The first step to begin your real state career is to get a real estate license.  If you select our home study Prelicense Course, you'll have the flexibility to work from your own computer (home or office.)  Study the lessons at your convenience then  advance to the next lesson after you have learned the materials.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:

1)  Effective July 1, 2002, each applicant for an original real estate license sales associate or broker or for an instructor license must provide a copy of the GCIC report, not more than sixty days old, when applying for a license.

2)  Applicants may acquire a GCIC report from the local sheriff's office or the police department.  In some counties,  the report is available only from the probate court.  Depending on the local enforcement agency,  there may be a waiting period for the report.  Some agencies may charge a fee of up to $25.00 for the report.

SALES PRELICENSE:

1)  Be 18 years of age

2)  Have a high school diploma (GED accepted)

3)  Complete a 75 hour, state approved, prelicense course.

4)  Pass a course final exam (grade of 75 required to pass, and

5)  Pass the state exam (grade of 75 required to pass)

BROKER PRELICENSE:

1)  Be an active agent for 3 years.

2)  Complete a 60-hour, state approved, prelicense course.

3)  Pass a course final exam (grade of 75 required to pass), and

4)  Pass the state exam (grade of 75 required to pass)

SALES POST-LICENSE:

1)  Complete a 25-hour, state approved, postlicense course within one year of receiving license.

2)  Pass a course final exam (grade of 75 required to pass)

CONTINUING EDUCATION:

1)  Complete 24 hours of state approved elective courses every four years.

2)  Note:  Salespersons who complete the 25-hour post license course in their first year may count that course as meeting only 6 hours of the CE requirement for the first renewal period.  In the succeeding 3 years of their first renewal period, such salespersons must complete an additional 18 hours of CE courses in order to renew their license.  (Georgia Real Estate License Law and Rules and Regulations, Chapter 520-2-.07(7))
